On Monday morning, Hank stopped by my desk. I was nursing a Venti coffee with two extra shots because, well, isn’t it obvious? I was running on fumes. Between the Friday night sex-a-thon and Mark and I becoming an item, I’d gotten zero sleep.

“Hey Grandpa, what’s up? I never see you over here.” It was true, the senior partners mostly kept to their offices—or the golf course.

“There was this event last Friday,” he started, “Mark was slated for this award. Anyway, apparently he didn’t show, so they just delivered it. Could you see that he gets it?”

Award? He missed an award? I swallowed. “The event at the City Club?”

He blinked. “Yep. Did he mention it?”

I took the heavy piece of cut crystal. “I’ll—I’ll make sure he gets it.”
